We are disappointed to report that during the night of the 7th October, a defibrillator was taken from its cabinet outside the Winterbourne Shop in Lewes. The AED was then vandalised and thrown over the wall into the area where the Winterbourne stream would normally flow. Parts of the broken AED have been recovered and it is hoped that local CCTV cameras caught the people who took part in this mindless act.

AED’s are vital lifesaving pieces of equipment and The Sussex Heart will insure that the vandalised AED is replaced.

We would like to thank Angela Brinkhurst for bringing this to our attention and for your fantastic efforts in raising funds to replace the vandalised AED.

Angela started a Just Giving page to raise awareness of the theft and we would like to extend our thanks to those who were generous enough to donate to the cause.

Any information leading to the prosecution of those involved with the theft and vandalism would be appreciated.
