Chloe Lacey, donated £1,000 of hers and her new husband Chris’s wedding present money to the Sussex Heart Charity via JustGiving.

Chloe and Chris got married on the 18th July 2015.

Chloe said: This is Chris and I’s wedding money, that was kindly donated by friends and family. It’s for my dad, Mike Lacey who sadly died June 2013 due to heart failure. Loved and never forgotten.

We donated the money because of the wonderful work that your charity does, and its strong connections with the cardiac Unit at Sussex Cardiac Centre.
My late father, Michael Lacey was a heart patient at Brighton several times and Dr Travedi, Dr Pegge and Dr Hyde will know my father very well. They saved his life! My dad was one of a few people to survive and self heal from an aortic dissection. The doctors mentioned above (who I know work to help raise funds for your charity) performed a life saving, 13 hour open heart operation that gave my dad a new aorta and 2 metal heart valves. They gave him 3 extra years of life. Something my whole family are so grateful for.

Unfortunately my dad passed away peacefully, while of holiday in Greece with my mum in June, 2013. My dad had a genetic disorder called Ahlers Danlos type 4.

My dad participated several times in the 3 years after his operation in your annual fund raising walks for your charity and raised £1,000 one year himself!

So the money I’m donating is to say a thank you to the doctors who saved his life, the nurses and staff who gave him fantastic care in the Cardiac Unit at the Sussex Cardiac Centre hospital and the continuing work that they and you do.”
